Free Book Friday (with a side of Funny)

A little silver-haired lady calls her neighbor and says, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get started.”

Her neighbor asks, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?”

The little old lady says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a rooster.”

Her neighbor decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her corn-flakes Pictures, Images and Photosand says, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster.”

He takes her hand and says, “Secondly, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of tea, and then…”  With a deep sigh, he said says, “Let’s put all the Corn Flakes back in the box.”

Today’s Free Book Friday offering is a triple play—the entire “No Ring Required” trilogy from Laura Wright & one of my very favorite publishers (not that I’m biased :wink ), Harlequin Desire.  Titles include Millionaire’s Calculated Baby Bid, Playboy’s Ruthless Payback, & Rich Man’s Vengeful Seduction.  If you’ve been paying attention to the sidebar, you’ll know I just finished reading these & they were very, very good.  I think today’s winner will enjoy them. :babybook

To enter the giveaway for these books, simply leave a comment to today’s post that includes the code FBF—for “Free Book Friday,” of course—to let me know you’re interested in the drawing. (U.S. residents only for the prize, please, but everyone is welcome to chat.)

Winner will be announced during our Happy Sunday post on…well, you know, Sunday. Winner is responsible for contacting me with her mailing information—i.e. I will not be contacting you—so be sure to check back in or you might not even know you won! :crying (If prize isn’t claimed within 14 days, another name may be drawn or item may be tossed back into the goody bag to be re-used for a future giveaway.)

Yes, I’m back…sort of. Still sleepy, but vertical enough to check in. Will probably still only be here on & off, so earlier rules apply—behave yourselves & mind Darling Laura J. :mistress

  2. Anne says:

Awwww. The cat picture is so cute, reminds me of cat #1, except as a kitten he used to sleep completely spread out on his stomach, he looked like a mini polar bear rug. Cat #2 still sleeps on his stomach, but since he’s a brown tabby, he looks like a seal when I have my glasses off.

  3. Hollie says:

LOL…have my own rooster puzzle going myself…no wonder its taking so long!!! :ROFL

Hope everyone is enjoying the “delights” in the dungeon……..I know I am!! :mistress

My brother told jokes to me every Thursday. This one he told but used a blonde and Frosted Flakes and said he met her at the bar and she took him home to her apartment. I miss his Jokes he left me on my Birthday but I will always remember him. Thanks for this. Seems like family here I’ll stop back. Take care everyone.

I am glad you are doing okay and are back on your feet. It’s so sweet of you to still think of us and do FBF even after having surgery. Very thoughtful. Were there any cute doctors you want to talk about?

    • Heidi says:

But of course! And WordPress is lovely about letting me set up posts ahead of time…as long as I remember. :que

No cute doctors, unfortunately, but my nurse (female) was fabulous!

  30. Cathy Ward says:

Seriously, I love the giveaways and always try to enter but you should consider emailing the winner. When you get to be my age you forget things and I never remember to check back in. :ROFL

That said, I’ll admit I’m not TOO old to covet that dark haired hunk in the middle book.

    • Heidi says:

To be perfectly honest, I just can’t be bothered contacting people when they win. I hold too many giveaways, & just getting things packaged up & in the mail is time-consuming enough—& that’s with help! So I figure if you’re serious enough about visiting WIPs & interested enough in the prize, you’ll be willing enough to check back to see if you won. That’s just the way we roll here in The Dungeon. :bart

But even if you’re not a *frequent* visitor to The Dungeon :humpf I also give you plenty of time to remember & check back, & older posts are always there. :cupcake

  31. Heidi says:

Thanks all for the warm welcome backs! (Welcomes back? :que ) I’ll pop in when I can, but don’t expect me to be back in fighting shape just yet. Funny thing is, I felt better the day of the surgery, but now I’m feeling yuckier. Could be the heat, tho, too. :humpf

  32. Robin D says:

The ceiling cat is cute! The corn flakes joke was very funny!
