A Few of My Favorite Things

Favorites Quick Links: Movies | Television | Miscellaneous

Get ready…this is a list of some of my all-time favorite reads – and it’s a long one!😁 Most are romance, but not all…and they’re not in any particular order, either. (Sorry about that.😋) A handful of non-romance titles start the list, simply because they stand out from the rest. And in places they might be in alphabetical order by author’s last name, but otherwise they’re added as I read and find new books worthy of becoming “Keepers.”
I hope you enjoy them as much as I have! 💖📚
  • The Great Good Thing – Roderick Townley  (Oh, so good! This is a kids’ story, but like the Harry Potter books, it’s great for young and old alike. It’s a book within a book—I’ll leave it to you to read and find out what that means—and if you look closely at the cover, you’ll notice that the little girl isn’t peeking out from between a forest of trees, but from between the pages of a book! Did I mention this one is oh, so good?)
  • Blueberries for Sal – Robert McCloskey
  • One Morning in Maine – Robert McCloskey
  • Make Way for Ducklings – Robert McCloskey
  • Fortune Cookies – Albert Bitterman  (Such a cute, sweet children’s book.  Read it; truly, you will not be sorry.  Especially if you have kids to read it to and/or love cats.)

  • PAWS for a Moment with God: Devotions Best Enjoyed in the Company of a Cat

I’ll send you one of mine to read so you can let me know what you think. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to read the whole thing. All right, said I; I’ll give it a shot. Holy hot sauce, Batman! It didn’t take me long to get hooked. Highly recommended, even though I’ve fallen a bit behind with the series and the later books aren’t nearly as good as the early ones.)

  • “Tall, Dark, and Dangerous” series:  TITLES – Suzanne Brockmann (I’m sure I don’t need to say much about these…after all, they’re the reason Suz is famous. But no author has ever made me love the Navy so much—and my dad was a sailor! Every time I read another of her SEAL  books, I want to find the nearest naval base and pop a tent outside, just waiting for my ship to come in—literally.)

  • The Equalizer (with Queen Latifah…though I enjoyed the original when it was on, too. ;))

Miscellaneous

  • CASH (of the cold, hard variety, thank you very much)
  • Stetro Pencil Grips  (these things are great!  I used to like the foam ones, but these contour to my fingers and are not only comfortable to hold, but I find myself gripping my pens and pencils a little less tightly, causing less pressure on my fingers.  I didn’t like them at first though; they took a bit of getting used to. ;))
  • Food Should Taste Good chocolate tortilla chips
  • Popcorn, Indiana Dark Fudge Kettlecorn & Dark Fudge Peppermint Kettlecorn (holy crap—why didn’t I think of this?  the dark chocolate is yummy enough, but the dark chocolate/peppermint is like Christmas in your mouth!)
  • Henry’s Hard Cherry Cola
  • IZZE all natural fruit-flavored soda (pretty much any flavor, though the Sparkling Grapefruit and Sparkling Lemon are my faves)
  • Smirnoff Ice – Green Apple and Triple Black
  • Cosmopolitans … Apple-tinis … Mamma Mias (I’m not much of a drinker, but I do believe I could happily become one if I sat around sipping these all day
  • Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle (holy freaking crap—I really need to stop discovering all these new, clearly not-good-for-me snacks! But this stuff…I’ve only tried the plain Chocolate Chip ones so far, but day-um!
  • Pepsi and/or Coke-flavored lip balms — this includes Sprite, Mountain Dew, Cherry Coke, Orange Crush, root beer… (if it’s a soda-flavored lip balm, I want to smear it all over me)
  • just about anything Pink Grapefruit scented or flavored (is there a better taste or smell in the whole wide world? I think not.)
  • Bodycology Pink Grapefruit body cream
  • blue corn chips
  • AlphaSmart 3000 and AlphaSmart Neo (OMG, I could not do my job without this! It is a gift from the heavens and I thank God every day that it was invented!)
  • DishNetwork and DVR technology (seriously, what did I do before these came along?)
  • airpop popcorn
  • just about everything Red Tango (I own nothing personally, but I just love that adorable cat design!)
  • Happy Bunny
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Corky and the Juice Pigs (If you’re a fan of the early MadTV days, you’ll know who this is…and if you miss them as much as I do, you can sing along with them on YouTube)
  • Kitty Girl perfume and body lotion (a knock-off of Katy Perry’s Purr, but I honestly think it smells better than the original; oh—but I do not care for the Kitty Girl Pink at all)
  • Garden Veggie Straws
  • Sweet Barbecue Potato Straws
  • Wise Honey Barbecue otato Chips
  • turkey burgers (Butterball and Jennie O are my favorite brands)
  • SoBe Life Water  (Cherimoya Punch and Macintosh Apple Cherry most of all)
  • ZzzQuil (I don’t use it very often, but when insomnia comes a-knockin’, it is a Godsend.)
  • White Cloud Green Earth toilet tissue (did you know that most companies use “virgin” trees—often from rainforests—to produce their various paper and tissue products? This is NOT GOOD. White Cloud’s Green Earth products (as well as Marcal and a few other brands, if you do your research) are 100% recycled. Which doesn’t mean it’s recycled toilet paper, for heaven’s sake! It’s made from recycled paper products. And in case you think that would make it the consistency of sandpaper, it’s not; it’s actually great toilet tissue…and paper towels…and facial tissue… Highly recommended for both personal use and helping to save the planet!)
