My “go green” tip for the day is to go meatless. Before I get pelted with chicken nuggets, let me add that even if you only do it sometimes (Meatless Mondays anyone?) :madchef
The environment, and your ticker, will thank you. It’s easier than I ever could have imagined (and I do it without cheese – insert collective gasp here-) Plus, the critters will thank moo. You. I meant you… :getdown

and, yes, FBF please.
Oh, and PS, Heidi, I see your “now watching” includes a Michael Douglas classic. I *just* got the husband to watch Romancing the Stone. He couldn’t help but like it. Gonna hafta find Jewel of the Nile next…

Sometimes I forget how good they are & love when they come on so I get a refresher. I love all the writerly stuff in them, like when Joan’s trying to scratch her way out of a prison cell with a nail file because the heroine of one of her books did it. Jewel asks, “And how long did this take?” Joan says, “Two pages.” :ROFL

I know, I watched Romancing… SO many times when I was a kid, over and over again. Even though I haven’t seen it in years, I was quoting it.
“…shot my dog and stole my Bible.”
“Look at those snappers.”
“Those were Italian.” “Well now they’re practical.”

I love this, Jessica! And you are so right. Americans eat WAY more meat than they should. I consider myself at least 80% vegetarian & eat meat as rarely as possible. I do wish I liked more veggies, tho, so I could fill my diet with more variety. I’m such a veggie wimp, tho. :oucher

I had steak for the first time in 8 months. I didn’t miss much at all. Guess I’ll go back to chicken. I’m just not a red meat kind of girl anymore. However, anyone gets between me and the potatoes are going to loose a body part. Just sayin. :angrychick

I’m with you, Laura. It’s to the point now where cooking meat smells totally gross to me. :spikey

I still have to post my veggie sausage recipe. There’s only one weird thing you’ll probably have to buy (Vital wheat gluten, in a bag like flour) but the rest of the ingredients are probably in your cabinet. We’ve been eating it on pizza and in our Tofu scramble (think scrambled eggs) and I even made a meatball-style sub with it! SO good. :cookinme

Reminder: We have an extra couple of days, taxes must be turned in by the 18th, not 15th this year. I wish cats were tax deductible.

Ah, so they’re giving everybody the weekend to catch up. :ROFL But still, I would rather disregard the extension & stick with the time-honored 4/15 cut-off. Too much room for mistakes when you start fiddling with stuff like that. :argh

and FBF…
and Happy Friday everybody!!! payday friday at that even!!! :chick gonna buy some more yarn and a couple of books!! happy happy!!
my tip for this week is to save up the scrap yarn ends (cut in small pieces) and lint from the dryer and put it outside so that the birds and squirrels can use it for their nest building!

Every single year, I pressure my tax guy to let me claim my cats as dependents. I mean, if there’s anyone or anything who’s *more* dependents, I wouldn’t believe it. :humpf
Good tip, btw! I often do the same. And if I’m out & about w/ a banana peel or apple core or something, instead of throwing it in the trash, I’ll try to toss it into the woods or a field or something where critter—even just the little anties—can eat it. :eats

Be more green huh…does lusting after the Green Lantern count? I’m sure he’s healthy for the enviroment. :beer
I really want to start using my recyclable bags. Not the plastic ones but the special ones. Know what I mean? The problem is I always forget to 1) remember to put them in the car and 2) if they make it to the car they don’t make it in the store and 3)I don’t remember they are in the car until I’m checking out! We do recycle our plastic bags (as well as everything else we can).
FBF!!

Do you watch Big Bang Theory? This week’s ep was the repeat about them dressing as the Justice League for a costume contest & one of them was the Green Lantern. Very funny joke about G. Lantern vs. G. Arrow. :kittylaugh
As for the Earth bags, this took me *so* long to get the hang of.
First, you have to collect *a lot* of them, not just a few.
Then you put them in each vehicle & *leave them there.*
Then you put the kids in charge of reminding you to grab them each & every time you get out of the car to go into a store. (Not just the grocery, either, but any kind of shopping; sometimes you carry them around even if you don’t end up buying something…better safe than sorry. *g*)
And if you forget them, you make yourself go back out to the car for them…or send a kid for them, if it’s feasible. :umbrella
Then as soon as you empty them of goodies inside the house, you gather them together & put them by the door or take them straight back out to the car so they’ll be there next time you need them.
Lather, rinse, repeat. LOL Took me a while to make a habit of this, but now it’s second nature. At some of the stores where I shop, folks even know I’m going to say, “I’ve got my own bags!” now before I get around to it. :cupcake
Bradley would definitely want you to do this. :us

I was just watching it (yay tivo!!!) and I know the exact GL reference you are talking about! But I must say I prefer Ryan over Leonard. I’ve seen Ryan naked!!! (oh if you all have seen The Proposal then you’ve seen him naked too. Geesh…you all are so gutter minded).
I have a whole bunch of those bags. Now to get them to my car. One step at a time.

Put B-girl in charge of this & you’ll be doing it automatically in no time. You can even promise to get her a new rat each time she reminds you to take them in the store.
Uh-oh, I may have pushed too hard… :girlfight
