free book Friday funny

A FRIDAY FUNNY

I just got off the phone with a friend who lives in North Dakota, near the Canadian border. She said that the snow there is waist high already & still falling like crazy. The temperature is way below zero & dropping, with a north wind blowing at near gale force.

Her husband has done nothing but stand at the kitchen window & stare.

She says that if it gets much worse, she may have to let him in.

what’s in a name?

It occurred to me recently that I might be confusing people with my flip-flopping & interchangeable use of the terms “Harlequin Desire” & “Silhouette Desire.”

Well, there’s a reason for this.  And in case you haven’t already heard, I’ll try to explain…

Starting in June of this year (2011), Harlequin’s “Silhouette” imprint will be absorbed under the Harlequin umbrella.

Basically, that means my line, Silhouette Desire, will become Harlequin Desire…  Silhouette Romantic Suspense will become Harlequin Romantic Suspense…  Silhouette Special Edition will become Harlequin Special Edition…  and so on.

As far as your reading experience is concerned, you needn’t worry—nothing vital is going to change.  The lines will remain as they are now, both story-wise & when it comes to covers.  The only thing that’s changing is the imprint name & graphic as it appears on the books. (i.e. The “Silhouette” name & icon that appear in the graphic above will turn into “Harlequin.”)

Which may take some getting used to, I admit.  I’ll also admit that I’m a little sad to see Silhouette go. :blinkie   I love Harlequin as a whole, but I’ve always been just a smidge partial to the sexy sound of “Silhouette” & the image of a man & woman in an embrace associated with it.

But I’m more than willing to go along for the ride & see how the name “Harlequin Desire” looks on my covers from now on.  (Starting, as I said, in June—just in time for HER LITTLE SECRET, HIS HIDDEN HEIR.  Woot! :dancing )

And in case you’re wondering why this change is being made…  Well, the truth is, the Silhouette line actually originated over at Pocket Books.  When Harlequin took it over, they kept the Silhouette imprint to avoid reader confusion.  But now that Harlequin is so well-known—a household name, really—it only makes sense, I guess, to just go whole-hog & make everything Harlequin.

So don’t be afraid when you start seeing this change pop up, okay?  Don’t freak out when your Silhouette Desires suddenly become Harlequin Desires.  And if you’re doing a search or looking around & can’t find “Silhouette Desire,” just change your focus a little bit & look for “Harlequin Desire” instead.

I swear, nothing is changing but the name!  And you know what Shakespeare said about names…a rose by any other would smell just as sweet. :uhoh   Or in this case, sexy.  My Desires will remain just as sexy as always—I promise! :socool
