Free Book Friday (with a side of Funny)
A FRIDAY FUNNY
Happy Canada Day! In honor of this respected holiday, I thought it would be fun to share some Canadian funnies today.
And my favorite, because I’m a total maple syrup whore…
FREE BOOK FRIDAY
Sadly, I don’t have any books on my pile that are set in Canada, nor can I think of any Canadian romance authors right off the top of my head. (And even if I could, I don’t know that I’d have one of their books on my pile, either.) So I’m going for simply a red theme, in hopes that you’ll be willing to pretend this book has anything to do with Canada Day. :tongue
This week’s Free Book Friday giveaway is Quicksand by Iris Johanesen. See—it’s red. With a bit of sand that could be mistaken for white. White lettering, anyway. Go with me on this, people. :whip
To enter the giveaway for this book, simply leave a comment to today’s post that includes the code FBF—for “Free Book Friday,” of course—to let me know you’re interested in the drawing. (U.S. residents only for the prize, please, but everyone is welcome to chat.)
Winner will be announced during our Happy Sunday post on…well, you know, Sunday. Winner is responsible for contacting me with her mailing information—i.e. I will not be contacting you—so be sure to check back in or you might not even know you won! :crying (If prize isn’t claimed within 14 days, another name may be drawn or item may be tossed back into the goody bag to be re-used for a future giveaway.)
It’s a Black & Blue Party!
WE’RE TURNING BLACK & BLUE!
(in a good way)
I’m still smarting over my absence from the RWA National Conference in New York this week, especially since tonight would be “party night” pretty much across the board. Kensington’s party, St. Martin’s Press/Macmillan’s party, & most especially Harlequin’s legendary Black & White Party held for its authors at the Waldorf. All of which I would be attending if I were there. :crying
So I need to compensate. I need to do something to alleviate this crushing disappointment weighting me down.
Which is why I’m throwing a Black & Blue Party!
A.) Because black & blue are the colors of depression, which I haz.
B.) Because this is The Dungeon, for heaven’s sake—beatings & bruises are par for the course.
C.) Because I’m covered in bruises from banging my head against my desk really hard for missing what is sure to be the best time ever!
& D.) Because it’s a nice counterpart, I think, to Harlequin’s Black & White Party—for all the reasons mentioned above.
Those of us who are homebound & RWA-less are going to make our own fun, right? Hell to the yes!
First, you need a dress. Here’s mine:
Next, we need super-hot shoes:
And drinks! We can’t forget the beverages:
We are also serving a very special dessert in honor of our very own Darling Jessica‘s birthday today. Happy Birthday, Jessica…this one’s for you! (But you do have to share. :eats )
All right, I’m ready to party! Now it’s your turn…
What are you wearing?
And what should we listen to? Can you think of any great music that would qualify as (or cause us to be) “black & blue”?
Give me a blow-by-blow (get it? “blow-by-blow”…bruises *snicker*) of your look for today’s Black & Blue Party, & then let me know what your plans are for the party. Hoping to rub elbows with the rich & famous? Meet Mr. Right? Be a sad & lonely wallflower? Or simply avoid walking out of the restroom with toilet paper sticking out of the waistband of your dress? :bart
