4 1/2 stars
I fully intended to have my conference recap post ready for today, but life intruded & I got a little sidetracked, so I guess it will have to wait a while longer. :Pretty
What I do have to share today is the exciting news that I’ve received a stellar review from RT BOOKReviews for my December Silhouette Desire, INHERITING HIS SECRET CHRISTMAS BABY. (Now available for pre-order, by the way, at Amazon.com, BN.com, & just about anywhere books are sold. :winkwink )
Follow me on this funny story for a minute, though…
For about three days before leaving for NJRW, I had been checking my mail diligently, waiting for my RT magazine to arrive. Not because I knew XMAS BABY would be reviewed in this issue, but because THE BITE BEFORE CHRISTMAS was going to be part of this month’s Kensington Brava ad, & I was dying to see it. (Did you see it? Check out page 27, if you haven’t…ain’t she gorgeous? :love )
My copy never showed up, though, so I hied off to the conference sans magazine. Never fear, I told myself, they’ll probably have copies there. And sure enough, they did—yay! As soon as I saw one, I grabbed it up & did the page-by-page flip-flip-flip thing until I found my ad. Ahhh, nice. I don’t even think I showed it to anybody, I just wanted to see it for myself. So the magazine went into my bag & then later got tossed on the bed.
Skip ahead to Sunday night when I got home & started making the social networking rounds. The first thing I spotted was a note on my Facebook page from friend & fellow writer Christine Glover: “Just saw your RT review this month for INHERITING HIS SECRET CHRISTMAS BABY—am so happy for you!! 4.5 Stars!! Way to go!”
I immediately had one of those Chris Griffin (from Family Guy) moments—Whaaaaa? It had never even occurred to me that XMAS BABY would be reviewed this month. :crazy I’m glad someone alerted me, though.
So I ran back to my bags & dug around for my magazine, then did the whole flip-flip-flip thing again. Yep, there it was—INHERITING HIS SECRET CHRISTMAS BABY: 4 1/2 stars, “In the final installment of Dynasties: The Jarrods, Betts neatly dovetails all the storylines and hands readers a blazingly sexy finale.”
Yippee! I don’t usually pay much attention to reviews one way or the other, but I have to admit, I’m really happy about this one because it gives a big thumbs up not only to my first new Desire in three years, but also to a story I really loved. Yes, it had its complicated moments (the last book of a 6-book continuity, juggling six couples & 12+ characters… LOL) but Trevor & Haylie & little baby Bradley really pulled at my heartstrings, so it’s nice to know one reader, at least, enjoyed them as much as I did.
You guys are next. I can’t wait to hear what you think. :cantputdown
Oh, & my copy of RT finally arrived—the Monday after I returned from the conference. :faint

I’m really looking forward to this one. I’ve been reading this series, which usually I don’t do (for no particular reason) and have been hooked since book one. This is a great series and I highly recommend them all.

That’s so cool. I can’t tell you how many people have mentioned they’re keeping up with the whole series just so they know what’s going on when they get to my book…even folks who don’t normally read Desire. Soooo flattering! :Pretty

You’ve got some great company in this series of books to be writing with. Should i write a letter to Harelquin and request you all get together and write another one. Maybe have them send you all on an all expense trip for a week to plot out the next series?

I think the guy on the cover of XMAS BABY sort of looks like Stephen Baldwin (for better or worse LOL :crazy ) but having been intimately involved in the writing of the book, I can totally vouch that Bradley or Ryan or even a couple of other Hollywood hotties would make an excellent Trevor Jarrod. :justsoool

Yep, that’s it entirely. :Bigthumbs Or even if it isn’t, we can pretend it is…& I’ve got no problem with picturing Bradley Cooper as the hero of this story, believe me. :blowkiss

That works for me too.

When I first met him BC was how I pictured Trevor, but then I do tend to cast Brad in almost every hero role while I’m reading! Hehehe
Runner up is Ryan Renyolds just in case I’ve got Brad too busy with other stuff.

Thanks, Pam. It’s a really nice stand-alone story, too, in case you aren’t keeping up with the whole series. In case I haven’t mentioned it before, I just love Trevor & Haylie—they are SO up my alley, character- & storyline-wise. :thumbsup

Never fear, you can read them out of order. The continuities are always set up as family saga sort of things, so they make a really good “big book” all together, but they also each stand alone really well. With XMAS BABY, it’s just like any of my other Desires, you might just have a certain character pop up here or there where you’ll think, “Hmm, wonder if there’s more to their story.” But otherwise, you won’t be confused at all. Promise. :cupid

Laura J says:
I agree. I did read one out of order, and the only thing it did was make me say “wait…how did I miss that story?”. No issues with storyline ruining what I missed. I think the one I missed was mentioned in the next book where one characters explains to another that so and so had a rough start and they worked it out. And that was the “oh crap! I missed one?” moment.
