FREE BOOK FRIDAY

Time to start giving away some Christmas-themed books!

This week is the A Stockingful of Joy anthology, with stories by Mary Jo Putney, Jill Barnett, Justine Dare, & Susan King.

To enter the giveaway for this book, simply leave a comment to today’s post that includes the code FBF—for “Free Book Friday,” of course—to let me know you’re interested in the drawing. (U.S. residents only for the prize, please, but everyone is welcome to chat.)

Winner will be announced during our Happy Sunday post on…well, you know, Sunday. Winner is responsible for contacting me with her mailing information—i.e. I will not be contacting you—so be sure to check back in or you might not even know you won! :uhoh (If prize isn’t claimed within 14 days, another name may be drawn or item may be tossed back into the goody bag to be re-used for a future giveaway.)

writer, interrupted

PhotobucketAs you can probably imagine, I haven’t been getting much writing done lately.  Try practically zero.  The surgery & following recovery have really set me back, even more than I was expecting.

Now, I know there are dedicated, guerrilla writers out there, who jury-rig their laptops to hang from the ceiling over their beds so they can type the day after waking from a coma, but I am SO not that type of person.  When I feel like crap, I can’t do much of anything but sit there feeling like crap.  And even though I tend to heal quickly (from the actual cuts, breaks, bruises, incisions, etc.) the rest of me takes much longer to recoup.  The lethargy & fogginess & continued pain meds have me just dragging.

It should be noted, however, that I have made several “attempts” at being productive.  I get geared up.  I surround myself with my notes, my Alphie, my previous chapters.  I even do that little spider dance with my fingers, getting warmed up for a major writing session.  And then either…

…or…

It is not pretty, let me tell you.

Thank goodness for my wonderful Desire editors, who have been so understanding & patient while I try to haul my butt back toward some semblance of a routine.  No luck yet, but I’m working on it.  Really, I am.

And Agent Extraordinaire had a great idea to help me get back on track.  He suggested that, in addition to simply reading back through what I have so far of my current work-in-progress (a new secret baby story for Harlequin Desire!), I try typing it in all over again.  The hope is that it will not only get me totally enmeshed with my characters & storyline again, but get me back into the habit of type-type-tickety-tack-typing.

So that is going to be my first step & my new goal.  I know I love my current project & was having plenty of fun with it in the beginning…now let’s see if I can shake off this post-op fog & dive back in!
