I was shocked and saddened last week to learn about the passing of Matthew Shear, Executive Vice President and Publisher at Macmillan/St. Martin’s Press.

Though I didn’t know him well, he was kind to me from the moment I sold to St. Martin’s, & one of the last things he said to me was, “We have you under contract again, right?”

Each time I saw him RWA or one of St. Martin’s lovely cocktail parties, he was friendly & delightful, ready with a quick smile & hearty handshake.

I’m going to miss seeing him at conferences, & can only imagine how devastating his loss must be for his family & those who worked closely with him.

Rest in peace, Matthew—you will be very dearly missed.

I hope you’re having a wonderful week, with lots you’re eager to share with your fellow Darlings!

This week, I AM HAPPY that I got back to the chiropractor after putting off an appointment all summer.  Bad idea; I can definitely feel the difference between a well-adjusted spine & an unadjusted spine.  I also think I sleep better & get fewer headaches when I get regular adjustments, so thank goodness my doc was able to fit me in on a day I had free.

I AM HAPPY that while I was out & about, I was able to pick up a lot of the items on the list I’ve been keeping…also most of the summer. :laughingdog2   And a few things that weren’t on my list, but that I just had to have. :kittywink

And most of all, I AM HAPPY with some very fun stuff that’s going on behind the scenes right now.  Will fill you in on that as soon as I can. :kittywink
