Mistress Heidi, P.I.

How many of you watch true crime shows?  I am kinda-sorta minorly addicted to them. :img2

We can blame Madame Mommy Dearest for that, by the way.  MMD has always loved true crime—books & television.  In fact, she often asks me something like, “Is Cold Case/Criminal Minds/CSI: Crime Scene Investigation fiction or non-fiction?”  Anything that’s fiction, she has no interest in watching.  If it’s non-fiction, chances are she’s seen it a zillion times.  (Then she gets bored & complains there haven’t been enough new murders lately…but that’s a whole other therapy session.)

As I said, MMD has gotten me totally hooked on these things.  Normally, I tend to stick to crime-related 48 Hours, Dateline, 20/20, & the like.  I’m not a fan of the true crime shows that include extensive re-enactments, or the multitude of “new” programs on Investigation Discovery that basically just re-hash the same old crimes that were originally reported on the aforementioned shows.

My most recent true crime addition, though, is Forensic Files.  I know they’re older & there are a zillion of them, but I’m determined to see them all! :img4

Anyway, while watching one the other night—entitled “Penchant for Poison“—they showed the woman who was the subject of the story reading, & I perked right up because I was almost certain I recognized the book.

Okay, maybe “recognized” is a strong word, but I was almost positive that I recognized it as a Harlequin Intrigue.

So I put on my Mistress Heidi, Private Eye hat & went to work!

It took some pausing & rewinding & slow-motion forwarding, but I discovered that it was absolutely a Harlequin Intrigue.  And on the back cover, I could make out one word: mask.

More rewinding & pausing & slow-motion forwarding & I was able to make out two words from the front cover:  Mask of.

From there, I had to do some research on the internet.  But I’m pretty sure I’ve solved the mystery.  The book the woman was reading was…

**drum roll, please**

I just love solving little mysteries like this.

But I have to wonder—do you think Sylvie Kurtz knows one of her books “appeared” on an episode of Forensic Files?  It may not have been obvious to those who aren’t as book-savvy as moi, but it’s still kind of awesome.

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday, everyone! How are you doing this week?  Well, I hope, & we want to hear all the good stuff, so start making your list! :img20

This week, I AM HAPPY that Spring has finally sprung in my little corner of the world! :img11  Yes, it’s still a bit chilly.  Yes, we’re getting our fair amount of those “April Showers.”  But at least the snow & sub-zero temperatures are gone, & it’s been nice enough to open some of the doors & windows once in a while.  The Kittehs are loving it!  The first day I opened up the house, I thought they were going to wet themselves with excitement.  They definitely got over-stimulated & had to take massive naps once I closed everything again. :img13

I AM HAPPY, too, that Mr. Handyman was able to pick up my screen doors this week (which had been dropped off at the hardware store to be re-screened; The Kittehs may love having the doors & windows open, but that doesn’t mean they’re gentle on the screens. :img28 )  It would have been awful to have so many nice days & not be able to open up the house for The Kittehs :img30 but Mr. Handyman came through with his little pick-up truck & can-do attitude. :img5

I AM HAPPY that thanks to a free preview weekend of Epix & Starz, I was able to DVR a handful of new movies:  Maleficent, Deliver Us From Evil, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, 22 Jump Street… I’m watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier now, but it will probably take me a while to get around to the others.  Have you seen any of these?  What did you think?  I hope they’re good! :img24

Also thanks to the Epix & Starz preview weekend, I AM HAPPY that I got to see Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters & I, Frankenstein a few more times.  I set the DVR to tune to them automatically, so whenever they came on & the TV was on, I could have them in the background.  I love these movies so much that bits & pieces when I could catch them is still worth celebrating. :img10

That’s pretty happy stuff, at least for me. :img3

So what are you happy about this week?  Happy about, thankful for…whatever it is, we want to hear about it so we can give a big, Dungeon smile with you! :img8
