what to read next?

Okay, so I finally finished Iris Johansen’s The Perfect Witness, which I swear I started reading by accident. img11  I was already a good stretch into another book, but happened to leave it well out of reach at a time when I really needed something to read.  The Perfect Witness happened to be on a stack of other books nearby, so I just grabbed it & read the first couple pages to keep myself occupied.  But I couldn’t just toss it back on the pile & walk away after that, could I?  Of course not—I had to keep reading to the end. img37

I also just finished Strictly Lonergan’s Business, the second book in Maureen Child’s “Summer of Secrets” Desire trilogy, & have begun the third & final installment, Satisfying Lonergan’s Honor.

But I’m still in the market for another book to start next, because I always try to juggle at least two at the same time.

A lot (maybe even most) of my boxes of TBR books have already been taken to the new house, but I made a point of leaving a few behind.  Mostly random hardbacks that I’d like to get through sooner rather than later, anyway, so they can be donated to my local bookmobile &/or public library.  And yes, I’ll admit it:  I also sort of like the idea of being “forced” into reading some of these titles that I might not get around to for a very long time otherwise. img15

So…  Here are my current choices, & I’d love your input to help me decide which to pick up first!

Passions of a Wicked Earl by Lorraine Heath

Mad About the Duke by Elizabeth Boyle

Confessions of an Improper Bride by Jennifer Haymore

And the only non-Regency, non-historical…

Up Close and Personal by Carla Cassidy

Have you read any of these?  What did you think?

And even if you haven’t read any of them yet…which do you think I should start next?

Such a hard choice!  If I could, I’d read them all at once, I swear! img19

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday, my Darlings of The Dungeon!  How are you feeling this week?  Thankful, blessed, joyful?  All of the above, I hope! img19

This week, I AM HAPPY that I was finally able to share the news of my new house with you guys! img23  It’s such a huge event for me, & it all came about so amazingly, it was really hard not to say anything the minute I thought it was going to happen.  But of course I wanted to be sure, so I bit right through my tongue trying to keep it all to myself. img26

I AM HAPPY that I got the water & electric turned on at the new house, so we can go out there now & use the bathroom, if we need to, or not be in the dark if we show up a little late in the day.

I AM HAPPY to discover that the new house is really cool.  And I mean that in both definitions of the word—the house is totally awesome, but it’s also cool inside when outside is witheringly warm. img14  Each time I’ve been out there so far, no matter how hot it was outdoors or how hard it was to stay cool at “the old house,” the interior of the new house has been completely comfortable.  Even without the air conditioning on!  (Yes, the new house has central air img20 but I’m not sure we’ll need it very often, if this summer has been any indication.  And the previous owners did say they hardly ever used it.)  I think because it’s a brick house.  I know my grandparents’ house was brick & never seemed to be as warm as other houses in the summer.  Whoo-hoo for me!  I can’t wait to be living there, especially when next summer rolls around. img16

I AM HAPPY to already have several loads of stuff dropped off at the new house.  What I can pack up & move on my own, anyway.  The big stuff—furniture & large appliances will go later with the help of some movers I’ve already sort of got lined up.  I’m just not ready to have other people helping yet, but when I am, I will happily let them take over, believe me! img15

And finally, I AM HAPPY just knowing I’ve got a new house to move to soon. img25  I can’t believe it’s really ours, but I can’t wait to be living there year-round & start working on all the fixing up & rearranging that still needs to be done.  It’s going to be a lot of work, but I know it will totally be worth it. img18

So how about you?  What good news do you have to share with us this week?  News, gratitude, happiness…  Whatever it is, we want to hear about it! img19

Sexy Fail Saturday

Why, oh why, do people do this? img36

It’s okay that you’re not a size 2. Please stop trying to squeeze into one when it leaves you looking like this. Buy the next size (or two) up…you’ll look way better & be much more comfortable, I swear! img23
