can you hear me now?
Here’s the deal: I’m sick to death of paying almost $100/month for a phone bill when I hardly ever use the stupid phone. :angryhearts
I mean, I like having one within reach, & of course I need my voicemail, call waiting, Caller ID, & access to 911. And I’m nowhere near prepared to switch to cell phone use only. (Plus, I just got those snazzy new phones for Christmas! :waivingsnowman ) But if I broke down my monthly phone bill for per-call charges, you’d think I was having an affair with a Martian. :loveslap
Without giving it a heck of a lot of thought, the last time I was out, I picked up a MagicJack Plus. But it’s been sitting here, still in its packaging, ever since because I’m afraid to open it & try to get it set up.
What if it’s a scam?
What if I screw something up?
What if it doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to? Doesn’t give me all the stuff I’m used to, like keeping my current phone number, voicemail, Caller ID, 911, unlimited long distance, etc.?
What if the reception is scratchy & I end up living in one of those “Can you hear me now? Can you hear me now?” commercials?
So the point of this post is…
Do any of you have/use MagicJack or know anything about it? What do you think of it? How do you like it?
I’d love to get some input on how it works & whether it really is just like going through the phone company, & if this was a smart purchase instead of a stupid one.
And if you’ve got any tips on getting it set up…well, I’d appreciate those, too. (Bonus points for coming over & setting it up for me. :animwashing )

Why—I don’t see any typos. Am I missing something? :animpeekaboo
P.S. If I didn’t type after midnight, I’d never get anything done. :loveslap

Have never used it or even bought it.. I use my land line a lot.. All of my calls are mostly long distance.. SO my land line has the best fee for long distance.

A few years ago, I’d have said the same thing. But my bill has gone up quite a bit since then, & my phone usage has gone down significantly—esp. long distance. I still want them, I just don’t want to pay $80/mo for it when I make, *maybe* 6 calls a month. :angryhearts

That’s all we’ve used since it first came out. I love it and will never go back to any other land line.

Really?! So it’s easy to set up & works exactly the way it’s advertised?
Oh, I’m happy to hear that! :pinkdressdancingwoman (I didn’t mention that when I bought it, they told me I only had 30 days to return it & it’s already been…well, probably 29 1/2. :animpeekaboo )
