Sexy Fail
I’d better not look like this after my hysterectomy. And if I do, just shoot me! :vampire
(P.S. Did you noticed the message spray painted in the background? :lol )

Free Book Friday (with a side of Funny)
FYI, I think it’s extremely rude for all of you to sit around laughing when such an action would currently cause me great pain & possibly popped stitches. But fine, go ahead…have fun without me… :face
A FRIDAY FUNNY
FREE BOOK FRIDAY
Since the original winner of this book never e-mailed me to claim her prize, Just for Kicks by Susan Andersen is up for grabs again. Partly because it’s set in Las Vegas & has a showgirl heroine just like my own MUST LOVE VAMPIRES & partly because if I weren’t afraid of laughing too hard & popping a stitch, I would probably be reading something by Susan myself during my convalescence. :coffin
So here are the rules, with a few post-surgery caveats…
To enter the giveaway for this book, simply leave a comment to today’s post that includes the code FBF—for “Free Book Friday,” of course—to let me know you’re interested in the drawing. (U.S. residents only for the prize, please, but everyone is welcome to chat.)
The winner will be announced during a Happy Sunday post one of these days. I can’t promise I’ll feel well enough to be at the computer for a while, so even though I’ll put together some blog posts ahead of time, I probably will not get around to announcing winners for this sort of thing right away. Just stay tuned & keep checking back, especially on Sundays, because one day your name really might pop up as the winner of something awesome! :jack
Once the winner(s) are announced, though, please remember that the winner is responsible for contacting me with her mailing information—i.e. I will not be contacting you—so be sure to check back in or you might not even know you won! :uhoh (If prize isn’t claimed within 14 days, another name may be drawn or item may be tossed back into the goody bag to be re-used for a future giveaway.)

what not to read during your recovery
The questions most people have when they find out they have to have surgery are along the lines of How long will I be in the hospital? What kind of painkillers will they be giving me? How long will it take until I feel better?
What’s the first question that popped into my head when I found out I’d be going under the knife? What am I going to read?
Yes, it’s true. I have questions about the actual surgery, & have even asked my doctor a few of them. I’m also wondering how the kittehs are going to handle my convalescence, since they are so completely & totally spoiled that my life literally revolves around their every want & need. Having me flat on my back, unable to hand-feed them every ten minutes, & not being able to pick them up 97 times a day…yeah, I have a feeling they’re going to be in more distress than I am.
I’m already reading something, of course. I am never without a book; never not reading something, even if it’s taking me freaking forever to make progress with it. But my current read is Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich, & while I don’t find this series nearly as amusing as it was in the beginning (to be truthful, I’m not entirely sure why I continue to read them; I think it might be an OCD thing :jack ) there are occasional lines that pop up out of the blue & make me snort. And I’m a little bit afraid that if that happens after my surgery, my insides will fall out—if the pain doesn’t kill me first.
So that’s maybe not the best choice of reading material to take with me to the hospital.
When I started searching for something new that I thought I’d be in the mood for & that might make be a good read for my recovering, I ran across mostly books I definitely DO NOT want to read right now:
Drawn in Blood
Eight Days to Live
Death Dealer
The Killing Hour
No One Heard Her Scream
Sudden Death
Sleeping with the Fishes
The Other Side
OMG! That’s as bad as my mother finishing Coma just before her hysterectomy! It freaked her out so much, they almost couldn’t put her under; she said she was afraid they were going to harvest her organs!
So no, no, no, no, no. I’ve gotta find something much lighter, less scary, & more encouraging. Something like…
Hide
Rescue Me
Undead & Loving It
You Sexy Thing!
As I’m writing this blog post, though, I have to admit, I still don’t know what the heck I’m going to take along/read when I get home. There’s too much to choose from, dammit! And to be perfectly honest, I will probably end up sleeping so much & feeling so groggy from the pain meds that I won’t get much of anything read.
But what would you recommend I read? Nothing too funny ’cause laughing will hurt! Nothing too scary ’cause being tense might do the same. But something good & maybe a little bit simple/easy to read, since my brain may not be functioning as well as usual.
Hey—I heard that! No snickering from the peanut gallery! I’m not a well woman right now…you shouldn’t be making fun of me. :purplebat
