quotable quotes

PhotobucketYou may be wondering, What’s with those blue quotation marks in the sidebar, under “What We’re Reading”? :imthinking

Well, it just so happens that I’ve been asked to give another quote for another new book by another new author. :tada And while I’m excited about the prospect, I don’t feel 100% comfortable sharing the exact author & title until everything is said & done.

For one thing, I don’t know if the book even has a cover available yet, as I’m reading it in unedited galley form.

For another, there are dozens of things that could happen between now & the book’s release that could throw everybody’s well-laid plans off track.  I mean, what if the author & editor change their minds about wanting my endorsement & solicit a different author for a quote?  Wouldn’t I feel the fool for saying, “Hey, look—my name’s gonna be on this cover, too!” :cat

Or what if I start reading, but am unable to finish the book due to unforeseen circumstances?  You know, like a sick grandma or looming deadline.  Or what if I start reading, but the book is eerily similar to one of my own releases or upcoming projects & things just get weird?  It happens.

So I thought it would be smarter to use a general graphic to let you know I am reading something, but I can’t tell you what just yet.

And since I’ve obviously started the book or those quotation marks wouldn’t be in the sidebar, I’ll also say this:  So far, I’m quite enjoying the story.  It’s very Desire-ish, which we all know I love…& is maybe why they asked me for a quote to begin with. :fangs    I haven’t thought of anything witty or brilliantly quotable to say about it yet, but hopefully that will come.  Because even if I weren’t reading it with an eye toward offering a quote, I’d still be eager to finish it. :yummy

stranger than fiction

PhotobucketHave I mentioned lately that I live kind of a crazy life?  Sometimes it’s completely bizarre; other times it’s just a little wacky.  But, seriously, things happen to me that, if I put them in a book, I’d get a zillion snotty reader letters telling me, “That would never happen!”

Kind of like this:

One day last week, a friend calls me…

She: “Do you hear helicopters flying around?”

Me: “Yeah, actually. They’ve been flying over for an hour or two now.”

She: “They’re looking for a mentally unstable man who’s running around town.”

Me: “Really? What kind of mentally unstable man? Do I need to lock my doors & windows, maybe load the gun?”

She: “I don’t know, but if he’s naked & hot, send him my way!”

:lolgeez

Okay, so I guess you can tell why she’s my friend.  The question, of course, is:  Did I rub off on her or did she rub off on me?  Maybe we simply gravitated to each other because we’re so much alike. :elvis

The helicopter fly-overs did eventually stop, by the way.  Apparently the “mentally unstable man” was really an irate boyfriend off on a tear, & the cops finally nabbed him.

Still no word on whether he was hot, though.  Or naked.  As the same friend said later, though:  “Around here, my guess would be not.” :uhoh

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve been having a wonderful week & are ready to share all the great stuff going on in your life!

This week, I AM HAPPY that my little Precious (aka Elder Kitty) is on the mend.  We had a little health scare with her earlier, involving a lot of eating, a lot of throwing up, but no pooping.  :cat   She didn’t like having to go to the vet, but is feeling a heck of a lot better now.  I’ve also got her on a bit of new food & new medicine, & so far, so good!  Fingers crossed it keeps up. I hate it when she’s sick. :imthinking

I AM HAPPY that PROJECT:  RUNAWAY HEIRESS, the very first book in my “Project: Passion” mini-series for Harlequin Desire, is done!  Done, done, done! :elvira

But not yet turned in.  :ohcrap

I’m working on it, though.  Lots of proofing & polishing to do, plus some double-checking of my British references.  Thankfully, I’ve got a girl in the U.K., ready, willing, & able to help with that. :cool

I AM HAPPY, too, that the idea for the second book in the series—PROJECT:  RUNAWAY BRIDE—is a-brewin’ in my head.  I hinted around about some stuff in Book 1, but now I get to really dive in & hash out what’s going to happen to the second Zaccaro sister.  And judging by what I’ve got planned so far, it’s going to be good. :lipstick

And finally, I AM HAPPY that I received a $50 promotional code for a new (or new to me, anyway) pet food website called Mr.Chewy.com.  I think they may have seen my posts about Wag.com, because they said, “We see you like to blog about your pets & pet purchases.”  Um, yeah. :Jack   But I checked out their site & it looks really cool.  They carry some really good pet food brands, so I’ll definitely take advantage of the promo code & stock up on some goodies for The Kittehs.

So that’s everything that’s making me happy this week…how about you?  Let us know what great things have been happening in your life this week, all the stuff you’re grateful for! :moneymoney
