yes, no, maybe?
So last week I complained about several beloved shows that won’t be coming back in the fall. :may38
This week, I thought I’d wonder aloud (or through the written word, as the case may be) if I should give any new shows a try. Here are a few that have maybe piqued my interest:
Murder in the First (TNT) — I always like a good crime drama, & TNT has impressed me with The Closer & Major Crimes…but not Rizzoli & Isles, King & Maxwell, or Franklin & Bash. :may24 (Maybe the trick is to avoid anything with an ampersand in the middle, huh? :may32 ) But am I going to like that this one shows the crime flat-out, then spends an hour figuring out how to nail the perpetrator? And do I really need another maybe/maybe not show to add to my DVR? :may6
The Last Ship (TNT) — I’m not the least bit clear on what this one is going to be about, but from the previews I suspect it may be a deadly virus outbreak show. I like that sort of thing, especially if it in any way leads to zombies. :mat27 However, I’m not sure how I’ll feel about a show that takes place entirely on a single ship. And I also gave SyFy’s Helix a try last season & grew bored rather quickly.
The Strain (FX) — Ditto what I said about The Last Ship, give or take. The Strain apparently has to do with vampirism, which is almost as good as zombie-ism, but frankly, FX has yet to impress me with any of its original programming. (Yes, this includes Justified, Sons of Anarchy, The Shield, Anger Management, Saint George, etc….I’ve just never been able to get into any of them. :may16 )
I also have to say that some of the previews & that worm crawling through that eyeball squick me out. But I kind of like stuff that squicks me out, so that may be a plus. :may35
Undateable (NBC) — The only reason I’m even considering this one is that it stars Chris D’Elia. He’s a total cutie & I loved him on Whitney. But then, every time I see him, I just get sad that the beyond hysterical Whitney was ever cancelled to begin with. :may38
NCIS: New Orleans (CBS) — This is the one I’ll almost definitely record & watch…at least for a while, until I’ve fully made up my mind.Partly because I liked the spin-off/crossover episode of NCIS, & partly because of Scott Bakula & Lucas Black. I’m not 100% sure I buy Bakula’s accent, but I’ve been a fan of Black’s since American Gothic. That said, I’m still a little on the fence about it. :may4 I love NCIS, but feel very so-so about NCIS: Los Angeles; I only continue to watch because Deeks is some much-needed comic relief.
That’s about it; those are the only shows I might be even moderately interested in based on the trailers I’ve seen so far.
Have I missed anything that you think will be good? :May10
And what new shows are you planning to try this summer? :may9

Drink of the Month
Cookies & Irish Cream Milkshake
3 large chocolate chip cookies
2 1/2 cups coffee ice cream
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup Irish cream liqueur (such as Bailey’s Irish Cream)
6 ice cubes
Break up 2 cookies into blender. Add ice cream, milk, liqueur, and ice cubes. Cover; puree until almost smooth, leaving some small pieces of cookie, if possible.
Divide between two glasses. Crumble remaining cookie, sprinkle over milkshake, and serve! :may29

Happy Sunday
Happy Sunday! How’s it going this week?
Well, this week, the first & most important thing I AM HAPPY about is that I’ve finished Top Secret Project #2! It’s not turned in yet, & I’m still working on the proofing/polishing part of the process, but the writing-writing is done. :may14
I’m very excited about this one; I just love the hero & heroine, the great sexual tension between them, the story itself… And I AM HAPPY that my editor for the project is being so sweet & patient with me. You wouldn’t think it would take so long to complete something that’s such a short length, but by God this one sure has! :may24
I AM HAPPY, too, that The Kittehs got a brand new cat tree to enjoy on the back porch. A few weeks ago, I moved things around & they’ve been without for a while. But I found a great new one I knew they’d love & bought it immediately…I just didn’t have a way to get it home. :may4
Which leads me to…
I AM HAPPY that I have a couple of wonderful friends who were willing to use their truck to pick up the cat tree for me. If they hadn’t been, I don’t know what I would have done! Strap it to my back & drag it home, maybe. Or take it apart so it would fit inside the car in pieces. :may33
And finally, I AM HAPPY the The Kittehs do, in fact, loooooove their new cat tree! It didn’t take them five minutes to discover it & now they’re all basking & playing & battling over the perches. It also fits just about perfectly where I wanted it. Maybe a bit of a tight squeeze, but it’ll do, pig, it’ll do. Yay! :may35
Your turn. :may8
What are you happy about or thankful for this week that you’d like the share with the rest of The Darlings? :may9
