Friday (moving) Funnies

This week’s Friday Funnies are some tips on How to Make Moving Easier…Or Not. img11

As you know, I am ass-deep in the process of packing & moving. This has not been a particularly enjoyable task, especially since I’m doing in almost single-handedly. img11

I’m covered in “moving bruises.”  Every day, I notice a new one, but I don’t even bother wondering how I got it anymore, because it doesn’t even matter…& tomorrow I’m sure to discover a few more.  And my nails…oh, gosh, I’m not sure my fingernails will ever recover! img31  They are all gone, broken, destroyed.  But the worst part isn’t simply breaking another one…it’s when a nail doesn’t break, but gets bent all the way back, down to the quick. Ouuuuuuuuch! img10

So I decided to do a bit of research & see if I could come up with some ways to make the process of packing & moving easier.  This is what I found…

(And while packing, too—especially if you’re doing it at the height of summer, in the middle of a freaking heatwave.  Phew!)

And finally…

Yay!!! img23 I’m so glad! Love hearing that others are as amused as I am by these things. And, yes, I img30 at several of them myself when I first saw them. img27

I’ve always hated moving. We moved a total of 5 times in 7 years due to hubby’s work when our daughter was little.

Ugh, I can’t imagine. img11 This one is massive, but I know once everything’s done, it will be DONE. Not going anywhere after this, I don’t think. img41 But I can’t imagine doing it more than once or on a semi-regular basis. Ugh. img10

    So accurate!

In my family, the person going backwards always ends up saying the same phrase upon lifting heavy objects…

    On three, 1…2…oh shit

    • Heidi says:

img30 Ohmigosh, that’s funny. I *never* let myself go backwards, if I can help it & even say, “I don’t want to walk backwards.” Because I can barely walk FORWARDS while carrying something without causing an accident…trying to do it backwards is just asking for a catastrophe. img11

I remember when we moved. My husband complained about all the boxes of books but luckily for me he loved me enough not to demand I give any of them up and he was actually the one that packed most of them for me. 🙂

    • Heidi says:

Aw, that’s so nice! img25 My books were already in boxes, for the most part, so all I had to do was lug the boxes, but there were still a ton of them. img14

And what am I saying…? I’ve only moved about half of them so far. The rest are in boxes that are too big/heavy for me to move myself, so I have to wait for help. img17

I keep telling myself I’m going to weed through & thin them out, too, but…hasn’t happened yet. img33

Great funnies today! One of my friends hates packing and moving so much that she hired professional packers and movers for her last move, where she literally moved four houses down. Everyone thought she was crazy, but she said it was so worth it! img30

    • Heidi says:

Can’t say I blame her, actually. When my brother moved across the country, he hired one of those companies that comes in & packs up, then ships everything for you. He said it was well worth it, too. img40 But then, he did have a job to get to & not enough time to pack & move on his own. Wish I could make him come back & help me now, tho. img26

i love the last one, i am not even moving (yet) and i have many days when this is the way i feel…keep your chin up!! img30

Oh, man, isn’t that the truth! I often quote the line from “Will & Grace” when they have a party & Will asks Grace if she wants help cleaning up. She says, “Ugh, at this point it would be easier to just move.” img30 I feel that way all the time…but now I’m wishing I could move without having to actually pack or take anything with me. You know—unlimited funds that would allow me to grab The Kittehs & buy everything else I need/want new. If only, right? img27
