Free Book Friday (with a side of Funny)

A FRIDAY FUNNY

Three men were hiking through a forest when they came upon a large raging, violent river. Needing to get to the other side, the first man prayed: “God, please give me the strength to cross the river.”

Poof! God gave him big arms and strong legs, and he was able to swim across in about two hours, almost drowning twice.

After witnessing this, the second man prayed: “God, please give me the strength and the tools to cross the river.”

Poof! God gave him strong arms, strong arms, and a rowboat, and he was able to row across in about an hour, almost capsizing only once.

Poof! God turned him into a woman. She checked the map, hiked five minutes upstream, and crossed at the bridge.

Good Morning Sunshines!!! well its raining here…but ya know what I mean!!
    FBF…
I (as in my family and I) have started to recycle our garbage…plastic bottles,newspapers,cans,cardboard..etc…and we have cut our garbage in 1/2!! instead of the 4 bags a week..we are only putting out 2 bags!
We are also saving our little plastic bags that our paper carrier leaves and giving them back to him to reuse!

  2. Alex D says:

    Morning :Bigthumbs

Spent last night reviewing some Organic Chemistry material :angrychick aye aye aye

    but glad its over 😀

  3. Anne says:

    Raining here too.

I don’t know that I’ll increase my greenness. I already switched light bulbs (and take them to Ace when they die so they can be properly recycled), take my cans, bottles and paper/cardboard to work to recycle since my building doesn’t have recycling service. I take the newspapers to the local animal shelter. I have a fairly efficient compact car. Give clothes to Goodwill/Salvation Army. Use reusable bags when shopping.

I think I’m doing my part.

  4. Emily F says:

FBF! I think this is an awesome giveaway! I have been very interested in trying to make my home more green. I am planting a vegetable garden in the next couple of weeks so that my family and I can enjoy EXTREMELY local food, as well as buying a rain barrell to re-use rain water for our garden. :getdown

  5. Dina says:

FBF. I use my own cloth bags when shopping and we recycle all products. I’d loved to have a little garden like Emily, will see. I also donate clothes and such.

  6. Heidi says:

I am giving big :vday :vday :vday to everybody for their wonderful efforts to go—& be GREEN!!!

Letting out a little sigh of relief that I already do all of these things (except gardening; I’ll buy organic & consider it my contribution to supporting the industry, but nobody wants trying my own two black thumbs at anything like that :garden ), but I am *always* on the lookout for ways to be even more environmentally friendly.

Keep ’em coming! :jump (P.S. No water is actually being wasted by this little sprinkler-jumping emoticon, I swear!)

  7. Denise Vega says:

We started to recycle paper , bottles, plastic ,,cardboard ,cans reuse use things instead of just tossing out FBF

  8. Jessica Lemmon says:

It’s a little thing, but when I get to the bottom of the bread bag I pack my sandwich for lunch in it instead of in another Ziploc bag. Then what was going to get tossed anyway got reused. I also bought recycled paper sacks and take my chips & sandwiches in those, but I wish the cost wasn’t so exhorbant. :bart

I’m also getting much better about my reusable totes at the grocery – and have a goal to start carrying them in to drug stores, Target, anywhere I pop in for a shopping trip. :hippie

    • Jessica Lemmon says:

OH AND FBF!!! :Bigthumbs (pls & ty)

    • Heidi says:

Fabulous, Jessica. And little things can have such a big impact!

I actually reuse baggies (Ziploc & otherwise) all the time. When they just have a sandwich or chips in them, how dirty are they really getting? Dump out the crumbs, wash them with the dishes (by hand, tho, not in a dishwasher LOL), & let them dry. You can get SO many uses out of them!

I also think that when you pay a much higher price from something reuseable, you end up making it back in the long-run. Truly. It’s an investment *&* you’re saving the planet! :picnic

  9. Laura J. says:

    1. It’s Friday.
    2. It’s hot outside (85 degrees today!!)
    3. I’m feeling like me again!!!
    4. I got out of cooking dinner!

It just doesn’t get any better than this!!

Oh wait–yes it does…..Friday Funnies, FBF and another cool giveaway from Heidi!!! :getdown

    • Laura J. says:

      oops!!

Recycled batteries, recycle everything we can and right now I’m drawing a blank on everything else.

The great weather has relaxed my brain so much…wait that could be the margarita. :beer
