The best birthday gift I ever received was when my DH brought home 2 little rescue kitties that rule my world to this day.

    • Heidi says:

Thanks, Donna! It’s not actually until Monday the 11th, but you *know* how we play it up all month long here in The Dungeon. :phbbt

Congrats on snagging this morning’s Golden Halo, too! Now you have to be a Good Girl all day. *sigh* Tough one, I know. :pie

I love that your fave b’day gift was a couple of rescue kitties! I may not have rescued one on my actual b’day, but I consider whatever day my babies came into my life to be lucky ones indeed! :leaves

I was actually married on my 20th birthday, my ex husband’s birthday is the same day and it was our wedding anniversary 🙂

The best birthday gift I received was on my 21st birthday my parents gave me a big surprise party and with all the money I received I was able to go on my first trip to Ireland and Scotland.

Have a very Happy Birthday and I hope that you get lots and lots of wonderful surprises… :cake

    • Heidi says:

Oh, that’s very cool! I would love to visit Ireland & Scotland one day. Hate to travel, so I probably won’t, but if they ever perfect technology that lets you blink & be somewhere else on the planet, I’m definitely going to do it. :lookingatyou

    Happy Birthday Heidi 🙂

My best birthday present ever has got to be my late BossCat Roadie. He showed up right around my birthday living in a cardboard box on my parents back patio. Mother kept feeding him & when I came to visit I saw this adorable, scrawny kitten who just wanted to be cuddled.

    • Heidi says:

Aww, another rescue kitty prezzie! I wouldn’t have been able to resist, either. And just think of what a great life you gave him when he certainly wouldn’t have gotten one otherwise. hb

  10. Rose Bricker says:

hb hb :cake Happy Birthday Heidi, my best birthday would be the one where my kids surprised me with a party (that was my 40th). It was really nice to have them do that for me!

    • Heidi says:

Very nice. I’m surprised the kids managed to keep it a surprise…but then, if they were in on the planning, I’ll bet they were super excited. :4ofus

I hope your birthday is going to be as great as the gift that I’m giving myself this year. I’m taking mom and me on a 7 day Alaskan cruise. I figure its a once in a lifetime thing so I’m getting a balcony room. Who knew that going someplace cold could cost so much?

    • Heidi says:

Oh, that sounds FABULOUS, Rhonda! I’m totally jealous. I’ve always wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise. Cold or not, I’ve heard you really get to see a lot of wonderful wildlife & sea creatures on those, & I just want to jump in & pet a whale! Or a seal, maybe. :leaves

Have a blast! I’d really love to hear about it when you get home, too—& see pics of the good stuff. :walkin

  12. Mary Kirkland says:

    Happy Birthday Month!
    hb :cake :blowitout

The best Birthday gift I ever received was from my mom. One year she bought me a bread machine and enough ingredients to last me months. I still have my bread machine and love it.

    • Heidi says:

Mmm, I love the smell of fresh-baked bread! My gramps had a bread machine & I’ve got it now, but I hardly ever use it. Maybe because I rarely have success with it. Not sure why, but I always do something wrong unless I’m using a bread machine mix. :cold

  13. Jolene A says:

My best birthday gift was from a few years ago. We moved out of state and I was having a hard time and missing my family like crazy. My husband and mom decided to have her fly out to surprise me and the kids and I opened the door to her on my birthday and was so excited! I missed her like crazy

    Happy Birthday Heidi!!

  14. Jennifer Cryblskey says:

:4ofus My best Birthday gift ever was my hubby paying for me to do my first half-ironman last year on my birthday.

And Happy Birthday Heidi! You Rock!

    • Heidi says:

Wow, I admire you so much for that. I try to walk as often as I can when the weather allows & bike every day, but actually going out there & doing the big stuff… :giggling And nice gift from the hubster. :blowitout

  15. Alicia Kerner says:

Hi! My fav bday was when my kids and husband brought me out to eat and got me beautiful dolphin earrings. Still a memorable day for me!

    • Heidi says:

Nice! I’ll bet you remember it every time you wear the earrings, too, huh? Sometimes material things mean more simply because of the memories attached to them. :givethanks

  16. Laura J. says:

Since I’ve been a very good girl this year, for my birthday I want Bradley Cooper, Karl Urban, Aaron Rodgers, Chris Pine and World Peace.

    • Heidi says:

But you don’t really need world peace, right? :turkeydone

Hey, I’ve been a good girl, too…or a bad one in the very best ways. Did you see the newest addition to (left) The Dungeon sidebar? Those is my boyfriends & I expect them each to be very nice to me for my b’day. :walk

  17. Cindy Rushford says:

:cake Thank you for all u do for us Heidi. The best birthday gift I ever got was an airline ticket to go out west and see my son and my brother went with me. It was the last time that my son was to see his uncle as a year later my brother passed away.

  18. Anne says:

The most important b-day element for me: :cake

    Happy belated birthday!

Unfortunately, I have never been given a birthday gift that really knocked my socks off. I can’t remember a single one. In my family, we stopped giving gifts many years ago (no kids). I spontaneously give gifts when I see something I know someone wants or will enjoy. I just sent my mom a small cat tower (not even a tower, a two story perch) for her new used cat and 2 lap blankets cause she and the new used cat are fighting over the one she has. They’d share, but my mom has no lap. Lots of tummy, no lap.

I found out Amazon had Hello Kitty post earrings made out of rhinestones (can’t bring them up on Amazon any more). They looked so cute, I got a pair for my sister and me. Not a Hello Kitty fan, not 9 years old, but they were cute and .99 ea. including shipping. I also gave my sister a potato masher this year. Doesn’t sound like something thrilling, but she kept yapping about needing one, I saw one in the store and grabbed. She could have done it herself, but didn’t so I looked like the great older sister.

    • Heidi says:

Hey, don’t feel bad. You’ll notice that even tho I asked, I didn’t answer the question myself. I could probably come up with a “best gift ever” but it would take a lot of heavy-duty thinking.

Like you, my fam has always done a lot of “grab it when you see it.” And we’re always saying, “It can be for your b’day/Xmas.” Never mind if it’s 6mos before or 3mos after. LOL As long as you’re nice to yourself & thoughtful of others, the date doesn’t matter. :blowitout

  19. Colleen says:

Wishing you a belated Happy B-day! hb
Best present ever… when I was turning 11, my family went on a Disney Cruise… it was our very first cruise and it was great… my grandparents were there also… had so much fun on the cruise, going to Disney World and even visiting The space center. :cake

    • Heidi says:

You’re not late—it’s actually Monday. :leaves

And that sounds like a great gift! The perfect age to enjoy something like that, too. I hope you had a blast…& clearly it created wonderful memories you’ll never forget. :4ofus

Late to the party as usual!!
    But HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY ANYWAY!!
I don’t think I have a favorite gift! I’ve had so many birthdays!
At the last one I had a Hawaiian Luau and had friends and family. Plus a surprise of two of my mostest fave people there!
Plus I had a giant box of YARN arrived on my doorstep! A crafter’s dream box of yarn!!
I hope you get your heart’s desire on your day!! :lookingatyou

    • Heidi says:

You’re not late – not really. As long as you comment on this post & get your entry in before I announced the winner on Sunday, you’re good. :ohboy

Oh, yeah, I can imagine how excited you were with a giant box of yarn. I know the feeling. Sometimes it doesn’t take much to please us, huh? Just the little things that make us really, really happy. :leaves

  21. Cheryl S. says:

Sorry I haven’t commented sooner but apparently this is a popular birthday month. My son just turned 18 on Thursday and my brother shares your birthday on Monday. Happy, Happy Birthday Heidi! :cake I think my best birthday ever was a couple of years ago when I turned 50. I told my kids all I wanted from them was a drawing by my son and an original short story from my daughter. I don’t know where they got their talent but they both have a great imagination and loads of talent.

    • Heidi says:

Very nice, Cheryl! And November *is* the best b’day month, so it’s not wonder it’s a busy one. :lookingatyou
