raking in the birthday loot

As you know, yesterday was my official birthday, and this year I really did rake in the loot.  Ooooh, it was a fun birthday.

First, the Science Channel ran an all-day Firefly marathon in my honor.  Now, they might say, “Oh, it’s the 10th Anniversary of the show & we put together this whole special together that we wanted to show,” but we all know the truth, don’t we?  They did it for ME. For my BIRTHDAY.  Yes, indeed.  (Now if I could only convince them to cancel that stupid Castle & bring it back indefinitely.  We can put a man on the moon, but we can’t do that?  Do not get me started! :elvira )

And on top of that, SyFy also ran Serenity.  See, I told you—Happy Birthday to ME!

Then a friend dropped by and brought me two adorable birthday cards because she couldn’t decide which I’d like more.  She also gave me the sexiest black Betty Boop watch, since she knows the Boop is one of Mistress Heidi‘s flygirls :lipstick & two homemade caramel apples that look just yummy.  I’ve kind of been saving them, but they’re definitely going to qualify as my “birthday cake” this year.

And last week, I turned in the final edits on PROJECT: RUNAWAY HEIRESS only to be told my Editor C that they were perfect and he thinks this might be his favorite of my books that he’s ever edited. Yippee!  I consider that a delightful birthday gift. :yummy

Madame Mommy Dearest asked me what I wanted for my birthday, of course, & the answer was easy—I wanted more SodaStream supplies.  I’m starting to really like this thing.  I feel like a mad scientist whenever I use it, & I wanted to try some smaller bottles (because I really can’t drink the full liter before it goes flat) & a few new flavors.  So she took me out & let me do the grabby-grabby of anything I wanted from the SodaStream display.  The only thing they didn’t have was an extra CO2 canister, so that’s still on my list.

And as further proof that the whole world really does celebrate my birthday & want to make me happy, I recently learned that SodaStream is coming out with a Diet Cherry Cola mix later this month.  Whoo-hoo!  Y’all know I love my cherry soda, but I really do prefer it in diet, & it bothered the heck out of me that they didn’t have both kinds.  I mean, they have diet & regular of all their other flavors, why not the cherry cola?  But they are making it all better very soon, just for me. :fangs

Madame Mommy Dearest also gave me one surprise gift that I absolutely adore—a ceramic travel mug (gads, I hope I don’t chip or break it! :uhoh ) with the most adorable kitty on it!  This is my cat, literally & figuratively.  This is exactly what my Harley Quinn looks like when he isn’t being the spawn of Satan.  I have always said he’s cute enough to be on notecards, & this is exactly what I’m talking about.  If you can get him to stop racing around for a minute, he looks just like this!  LOVE!

Last but not least, I bought myself a little gift.  Something I’ve really, really been wanting & that came out (once again) just in time for my birthday:  Magic Mike on DVD.

Oh, yes, I think I may enjoy that one most of all.  Just as soon as I’ve gotten the Firefly marathon out of my system &…okay, yes, gotten a bit of work that’s pending finished up & turned in…I am going to sit & enjoy the heck out of that present! :elvis

There always seems to be something, even just a little something, that comes out or catches my eye just before my b’day. And I think, “Okay, if no one else gives that to me, I’m going to get it for myself.” Because really, if we were still kids, we’d put it on our list, but since we’re adults, sometimes you have to treat yourself. :yummy

:fangs That’s actually one of the things I expected everybody to guess when I posted “What do you think is on my birthday wish list?” on the HappyBookers loop last week. :elvis The timing sure was perfect, tho. :bluesuedeshoes

Sounds like you had a great birthday. I watched the Firefly marathon too. Enjoy seeing him in Castle, more mature in this series.

Don’t get me started on Castle. I am actually not a huge fan. I watch & it occasionally amuses me, but I have…issues where the show it concerned. And I pray for a day when Firefly will return. :scaredya

      Browncoats Forever! :elvira

You mean you’re going to help me stretch my b’day out even longer? Woot! :dancebat

I hope you know it’s not necessary, but it’s very, very sweet of you—thank you! :spideykiss

And no hurry; I am all too familiar with the P.O. being closed on my b’day. The majority of cards come a week or two after. LOL

happy belated birthday! I have my very own copies of Serenity and Firefly. I’ve watched Serenity at least 25 times. I just wished there were more nekkid chests though.

    • Heidi says:

I’ve got them on DVD, too, I just like catching them on TV. :howyoudoin And more nekkidness from the Serenity crew is always a-okay with me. :elvis
