no rest for the really, really tired

SUNDAY:  After spending another weekend on the proofing & polishing of my latest Harlequin Desire manuscript, I was finally done & really, really happy with the story.  I think it may even be one of my strongest yet. :kitty   And since it was as perfect as I could make it while still managing to meet my deadline, I took a deep breath & sent it off to my editor so it would be on his desk first thing Monday morning.

MONDAY:  Editor C e-mails me back.  Got the manuscript.  Oh, goody—can’t wait to read it!

TUESDAY:  Editor C e-mails again.  Hey, I know we talked about putting this book out in 2013, but we’d really like to schedule it for November 2012 instead.  It’s going to be one of our “Billionaires and Babies” titles.  Of course, in order to squeeze it in, we’re going to need the Art Fact Sheet filled out really, really soon because they’re working on November cover art now.  Could you be a dear & get that done by Thursday?  Yep, this Thursday.  (That would be today, my Darlings. :dropmouth )  You weren’t planning to spend the next couple of days doing anything silly like sleeping, were you? :moon

I’m paraphrasing, of course.  And in all fairness, the sarcasm is 100% mine.  Editor C was actually very sweet & apologetic about his eleventh hour request.

And since I’m excited about having another new book out in 2012, I’m happy enough to do it, even if it’s left me scrambling just a bit.  Having just read through the manuscript, the characters & story are pretty fresh in my mind, too, which will help when it comes to describing scene ideas for the cover. :cuffs

I know it is extra work for you but it makes me just giddy knowing I won’t have to wait as long. :blowkiss

    • Heidi says:

LOL I appreciate that, Donna. I’m happy there won’t be as long a wait, either, but I definitely wasn’t expected to have to deal with the art stuff quite so soon. :dropmouth

:jumping I’m sure you’d like more sleep but I’m thrilled you’ll have another 2012 release for me to enjoy. The fact that you’re so happy with the book makes it one to look forward to!

How about, no rest for the truly talented and brilliant?!! Wonderful news that they can’t wait to publish your new book!! :thumbsup Wish there was something we could do to help. But, at least when you are done with this part, you are TRULY finished. Congratulations, and hopefully you’ll get to rest soon ma’am. :blowkiss

      Ooooh, I like THAT. :twirl

And y’all can (& do) help simply by buying my books. When you rush out to buy them the first week they’re available, it really shows my editors/publishers how much you love me :blowkiss & that you want more, more, more. And then they want more, more, more & everyone lives happily ever after. :heart

Bags are packed and I’m ready to go to Editor C’s office and help him scour through all the models to get just the right one. I promise to go through them with a fine tooth comb and will only pick one (or a dozen for further review) that will meet your high standards. Now you just go on and take a little nap. I’ve got this!

(and on a note from Tuesday===you are the exception to the rule. I think that is one of the reasons I love your books so much. Your heros don’t really follow a certain pattern or “romance rule”. I have managed to find a book that is breaking that pattern I seemed to be in with the heros for my current read. But this author tends to also be a rebel like you!!)

    • Heidi says:

Ha! I’ll tell him to begin emergency evacuation procedures. :muahaha

I’m glad you think my books are the exception to the rule. :winkwink Not always…some guys just have to be dragged kicking & screaming…but a lot of times the gals do have to be convinced once the hero makes up his mind. It’s a shoe-on-the-other-foot thing. :runrun

  5. Beth R. says:

I prefer 2012. I appreciate your hard work.

    • Heidi says:

LOL Thanks, Beth! I appreciate that you appreciate it. :thumbsup

No telling what 2013 will bring if we squish everything into 2012, but we’ll cross the bridge when we come to it, I guess. Esp. since don’t even know if there will *be* a 2013…if you listen to the Mayans & all. :winkwink

      • Beth R. says:

All the more reason to work hard and squeeze it into 2012. That way you get the fan adulation you deserve.
