it’s only getting better

Given how rough this summer has been so far, it’s probably no surprise that the writing hasn’t been great, either. :slamdesk

I agreed to a rather short deadline for my current book—PROJECT:  RUNAWAY HEIRESS—to begin with, but any hopes of meeting it were shot down & quickly swept away in the maelstrom of my grandmother’s stroke, death, funeral, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.  (The extra et ceteras are to emphasize all the other crap that has befallen me in the past couple of months. :nowait )

So the writing has been slow.  Little spurts here & there when I can get something done.

Which doesn’t bode well for the Muses.  They get annoyed by short little bursts.  By more time away from a story than with it.  They want to delve in & immerse themselves in the characters & plot, not spend half the time refreshing their memories so they can pick up & peck out a few more lines.

BUT!  But, but, but…

Things have gotten a little better recently.  (Writing-wise.  Life-wise, who the heck knows. :Cukoo )  I finally feel like I really know these characters & I’m loving them.  Yay!  I finally feel like I know where the story is going—clearly & far in advance, not just around the next corner.

And I am headed into the first love scene, which is turning out to be super-steamy. :bed

PhotobucketSo even though this one is taking me ages longer than intended, I can’t thank Editor C & everyone else at Harlequin Desire enough for being sweet & supportive & giving me the extra time I need to really do this story justice.

It’s gonna be good, folks.  Well worth the wait. :thumbsup

Hang in there!! We’ll wait patiently for the book (okay…sort of, we’ll try at least). Now if you need me to fix you up a cherry bomb and call up Dwayne to personally deliver it to help you out, just let me know. :cool On second thought, we’ll just skip the Dwayne delivery part—who knows when we would *ever* get that next book. :patrick4 (Yes, we have been paying close attention to your plans for him when you get your hands on him :bed ).

Things have to get better right.. and they are so that is okay. I know we will be delighted with this book when we get to read it… So I will just sit back and read the hundred or so books on my tbr shelf until then… :cool

Heidi, just noticed your reading “On The Hunt”. You will enjoy all the stories in that book. It helped me discover a couple of new to me authors. :happysun

I loved Gena’s story, but have to say, the cover disturbs me. The guy’s body is great, but the face is too young. He looks like the 13yo who mows my lawn. I need to put a post-it over it to keep from getting distracted. lol
