Happy Sunday

Here we are again—another Sunday.  I hope it’s a happy one for you! :may3

This week, I AM HAPPY that I’ve gotten myself a brand new Macbook Air & a new mini-refrigerator for my bedroom. :may22    (Yeah, it was a big day for Best Buy…& also the only day in all of July that I’ve left the house.  I’m telling you, I get dressed & go outside & the entire economy takes a giant leap upward. :may32 )

I’ve been wanting a Macbook Air for well over a year—ever since I upgraded to an iMac for my office & realized Apple/Mac really is superior over Microsoft/PCs.  Repeat after me:  Once you go Mac, you never go back. :may18   Of course, “want” & “need” are two different things, so I didn’t run right out & buy myself one, as much as I might have thought about it.  Instead, I waited until the want became an actual need

You remember, don’t you, that I’ve been using Madame Mommy Dearest‘s laptop for quite some time.  And then, I accidentally stepped on it & the screen went all kerflooey. :may39   I’m still using it, actually, but it isn’t easy; the crack has become a smear & the smear just keeps getting worse.  Plus, MMD‘s laptop is running Windows XP, which became obsolete starting June 1st.  That means no more updates from Microsoft & no protection of any kind.  (Yeah, I maybe shouldn’t still be using it, all things considered. :may4 )

So I knew I needed to get out there & get a new laptop…& it was a Macbook Air or bust, given everything I’ve learned about Macs in the past year.  And the first chance I had to get out there & run massive errands, I grabbed me one. :may14

Now for the sad part…  It’s still in its box.  I’m scared to death to open it because I have zero clue about using it, getting it synced with my iMac, getting everything I need from MMD‘s laptop over to it…  So I’m doing the only thing I know to do—I’m ignoring it & continuing to use the broken, crappy machine. :may17

I AM HAPPY, too, that while I was shopping for my Macbook Air, I also go a new mini-refrigerator for my bedroom.  I need one to keep Miss Precious’s (a.k.a. Elder Kitty) food cold in between feedings, since she lives in & almost never leaves the bedroom.  Plus, it’s convenient to have cold drinks handy instead of having to run downstairs to the big fridge late at night.

Anyway, the old mini-fridge I had also went kerflooey.  Almost from the time I got it, it didn’t really keep anything cold-cold.  Cool, at best.  In fact, in order to keep Miss Precious’s food from going bad on a daily basis, I had to put in about six big ice packs (the plastic, blue goo-filled kind) from the main downstairs freezer twice a day.  Sheesh, that got old fast. :may8

The new one I decided on is quite a bit larger than the old one, but also keeps things gloriously cold!  I mean, it will actually turn Precious’s food into a lump of ice if I’m not careful…& that’s outside of the freezer compartment, on only the number 3 setting out of 7.  Wowza, wowza, wowza!  Color me a happy camper! :may15

So that’s a good week & a lot of gratitude for me.  How about you?  What’s going on in your life this week that you’re thankful for, or that simply makes you smile?  Take a minute to share, because we wanna hear all about it! :may7

That’s great that you got the macbook air. Hope you can figure it out without much problems. A new mini fridge is a great idea, nothing like getting something that actually works to bring a smile on your face.

My good news this week is two of my most noisiest, irritating neighbors moved out. I knew they would if I just gave it time.

Oh, joy! Truly, I’m delighted for you. I’m dealing with the same thing right now & it’s AWFUL! Praying mine will move soon, too. :may38

I’m so weird about technology—I’m always petrified to try anything new, even turn it on or open it up. Then once I finally work up the courage, it’s like, “Geez, that was so simple. Anybody could do this!” :may16

Had a good week. Only bag thing that happened this week was my up-right freezer died, but I’v had it for 29 years. Thank goodness there wasn’t a lot of frozen stuff in it. Heidi what make of mini fridge did you get? I’m thinking of getting one for my bedroom also. Have a great week. :may18 :may3

Oh, I would be lost w/o my upright freezer—it’s where I keep all The Kittehs’ frozen food! Mine is old, too, so if it starts acting up, I’ll have to buy another one immediately! :May10

I’m not very good with lesser-known brand names, but I think the mini fridge I got is a Haier. Something like that. It’s not as “mini” as I’d have liked, but it’s turned out to be really great. I actually just had to lower the temp because it froze the top of my pitcher of water, which was *two shelves down* from the freezer compartment. Never expected it to get *that* cold. But after not being able to keep things cold at all, I’ll take it! :may22

LOL Ah, another convert, I see. I’ve always had PCs, but this last time when my computer went kerfluey, I switched to an iMac & LOVE IT!!!

It’s not so much that I don’t know how to use the Macbook, but that I’m not 100% sure how to get it synced with my desktop Mac, so I’m procrastinating the big set-up thing. :may4

I know once I get going, it will be great. Am actually looking forward to it because the giant crack down the middle of the old laptop screen is driving me bonkers. :may39
