The Gingerbread Man


4 ounce vodka
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 inch fresh ginger
2 cinnamon sticks
3 whole cloves
gingerbread cookies


In a saucepan, heat water, sugar, ginger, cinnamon sticks, & cloves until reduced to approximately 3/4 cup.  (About 15 minutes.)
Pour liquid through a sieve & chill until all sediment has gone to the bottom.  (About 20 minutes.)
When syrup is ready, combine vodka with 1 ounce syrup in a cocktail shaker.
Shake & strain into a martini glass rimmed with crushed gingerbread cookie crumbles.
