Top 5 Reasons I Love Winter
5. The blanket of white snow is so very lovely until people start shoveling & tromping through it. (I prefer to leave it as-is as much as possible, then see if I can tell which critters have padded across my yard.)
4. With the windows closed, I don’t have to listen to neighborhood noise. (i.e. dogs barking, radios blaring, lawn mowers mowing, kids screaming at the top of their lungs…)
3. I can dry/thaw stuff on the uber-hot radiators in no time flat! (Gotta be careful with this one, though…there’s a fine line between “thawed” & “spoiled.” :sick )
2. Winter is the perfect time to curl up with a nice, hot cup of cocoa. And a slice of toast. And a book.
1. I can use the lousy weather as an excuse to stay inside & hibernate! I mean write! Yeah, that’s it, stay in & write.
Top 5 Reasons I Hate Winter
5. Every five minutes, weather advisories & school closings go scrolling across the TV screen. I’m sure there are people out there who care about this sort of thing, but I do not…at least not as much as I care to see Michael Weatherly at his full height & volume, thankyouverymuch!
4. With the windows closed, there’s no fresh air & no birds/chippies/squirrels (& the occasional rat) to entertain the cats. :kitty
3. It’s COLD! I tend to get cold easily, anyway, so winter can be a nightmare. I am forever adding layers…then shedding layers…then adding layers…
2. It’s COLD! When/if I do have to go out—which, thankfully, does not happen very often—I have to bundle up like the Abominable Snow Monster. Seriously! And have I mentioned that I now have titanium plates in my face 
that absorb the cold like a sponge. Not fun.
1. It’s COLD! My fingers, especially get icy fast. And have you ever tried to type with gloves on? Of course not, because it’s freaking impossible!
All right, I’ve gotten that out of my system. I feel much better now. So how about you? What qualities make up your love/hate relationship with the season of snow & ice?
I HATE the stuff! It is my entire top 5 things I hate list about winter. Yeah, yeah, it’s pretty.
So today, since it’s snowing today I’m going to be in a pretty crappy mood. It’s going to do this all day (I would rather it snow overnight, but nope we are getting it all day). Kids are home, again. We used all of our snow days before Christmas so now we get to add on at least 3 could be 4 days at the end of the year. Also, I get to go to work. Could this have not come a couple days earlier or waited until I was already off. I love my job, but the owner does not close unless it is absolutely necessary (doesn’t matter that we won’t have any kids coming in today) because scheduling makeup classes is tough (and I understand that). And I have a driveway that is steep so I may slide down, but my car most likely won’t get back up and that will cause parking issues because we live in a little circle/corner of the subdivision.
Oh and then there are all the people that will get out because they have either ignored the fact the weather people have been talking about this all week and have realized they are out of milk, bread, chips and beer. These are the same people that can’t drive very well in absolutely perfect weather but think they can handle icy/snowy conditions.
Well, I guess it is pretty. But bring on the summer!!! (Oh and I will be posting a new facebook picture later with me wearing my new flip flops in the snow. That’s kind of my stickin’ to the snowman.
I actually have a love/hate relationship with Summer, too. My fave seasons are Spring & Fall…the nice middling seasons when it’s not too hot, but not too cold. Everything else is just too full of extremes. :hothot
We don’t seem to get much of either here anymore. Maybe a couple days of each. Of course living in/near Louisville summer starts the first Saturday in May and ends usually when we set our clocks back.
I love the Winter time here. We don’t get any snow and living in Las Vegas we hardly get any rain. It doesn’t get all that cold, so far this winter the coldest temp we’ve hit was 28F and without any wind, it just wasn’t all that cold.
You know what I hate…Summer! I hate hot weather, I hate sweating, I hate the brain boiling hot air making me feel like I just stepped out of a sauna. Dry heat my A$$! 116F is freaking hot, dry heat or not.
At least when it’s cold, I can add another long sleeve shirt, hat, scarf, gloves, and jacket…when it’s 116F what are you gonna do, when even getting naked and standing in frint of the air conditioner doesn’t cool you down….O_o

Uh-oh. Knowing you live in Las Vegas makes me very nervous about MUST LOVE VAMPIRES. It’s set there, but I won’t claim to have gotten all my deets right. :cry
And I’m with you on the “dry heat” thing. Hot is hot, thank you very much.
Living in Las Vegas is one of the reasons I wanted to read the book. :) I’m sure it will be marvelous!
I don’t think I would like Vegas summers. However, at this point (as the nasty, horrible, icky and ugly white stuff is coming down) I would take 116F!!! Pools, naked men, sun, hot naked men…..
LOVE cocooning in the winter – a book, a hot cup of coffee, slippers! ohh, I love slippers! :gotcha
HATE the frigid chill of my “mouse hand” – my right hand is always absolutely freezing and yes, it does make it rather difficult to find the correct keys. :ubermad
Good news is, if I keep a cup of coffee handy, so to speak, it may help avoid frigid mouse hand. :) :biggestgrin
The frozen mouse hand–yes! And I’m a slipper lover, too! Well, not slipper-slippers as much as slipper socks. I think I might even have a small hoarding problem with them…I buy them by the cartload & wear them in layers. (First the toe socks, covered by big, fluffy outer socks.) :happyjoy
I love winter! Being an upstate NY native…these little Indiana winters arent anything!!
But we are almost to February…and ya know it is that much closer to spring!!

I was going to, at least come up one day, but the oldest has decided he’s going to graduate from high school that day. Decisions, decisions. :crazy
I’d like to add one more negative to the snow (that is still coming down and causing many, many of those drivers I mentioned above to go off roading)
NO SCHOOL!!!! UGH!!!!! I paid for these kids to be in school for the year! I’m getting ripped off!!!!!!! And now we can add another day at the end of the year (when they are going to be doing so much learning those last few days –said with sarcastic tone).

I’ll take your snow day up here….we havent had one all year yet!! Just one measly 2 hour delay!! Its just not fair! :mad
We used up all of our 3 days built in for snow days before Christmas (they upped them from 1 day that has been the allotted amount since way back when). We have had 4 days out (I think-it might be 3) since we have gone back after Christmas break. They are saying we could get 1-3 inches of snow again on Monday which means Tuesday could possibly be a no-go. Can you tell we don’t handle snow around here very well.
Oh and I’m subbing for my boss tomorrow which means I have to go in, but most of the kids won’t.
I loved having the day off from school when I lived in West Virginia and it would be snowing like crazy….but my mom didn’t care for it at all. lol
